Ants are everywhere. Unfortunately, your home is the perfect place for ants to thrive. Readily available food, warm spaces and protected from the rain, what's more to love? You've probably seen ants in your home, but is it an infestation? We're here to help you tell the difference between some ants just visiting and needing to evict.
Seeing Ants
We're going to go with the obvious one first. If you're seeing more than a handful of ants inside the you may have a problem. Doubly so if you see the ants marching across your floors and benches in full force. This means they have set a trail and your home is the target.
Ant Mounds
Are your gardens full of ant mounds and nests? They may not seem like a big deal, you want the ants outside, right? Not necessarily. Think of it as if you are surrounded and the enemy is multiplying. All it takes is a little bit of rain, or a bit of food left out, for them to converge indoors.
What can you do?
Eliminate scout ants before they return to their colony with directions to your kitchen
Remove any trails that may already be leading the ants to your home (anywhere you saw ant trails)
Keep your home tidy - particularly any food waste
Beware of your pets food bowls - try and ensure they are off the ground when it isn't feeding time
Maintain your yard to help keep mounds away
The Number 1 Solution?
Call your pest control (we're not biased, promise). Ants are tricky to get rid of. They're tiny, multiply quickly, and are willing to travel great distances for safety and easy access to food. You won't ever be 100% ant free, but regular pest control will help you avoid infestations and keep the ant populace to a minimum.
