The Indian-meal moth is most commonly known as a pantry moth. Typically these little guys find their way into your home straight from the grocery store. They love your grain based foods, think flour or even pet food. Foods that are not tightly sealed, especially those maintained for long periods of time, are particularly susceptible to infestation. Pantry moths will happily migrate through your food. They're a nightmare to get rid of, so keep reading to see the signs that you have an infestation.
Keep an eye out for:
Larvae: these are beige worm-like with a dark brown head. They'll be hiding in your food
Larvae webs: the larvae spin webs for their cocoons. If you notice webbing in sealed containers or packages, it's most likely pantry moths.
Pantry moths: so this one is a bit obvious, but if you open some flour and see tiny brown moths flying out - you've got pantry moths.
Holes: you find any holes in your packaging - it's likely migrating pantry moths chewing their way into a new food source
What can you do?
Throw out any and all infested food
Check for packages with tiny holes and throw those out
Deep clean your pantry
